Reborn Soul

ANIMALS

Silence had always frightened him. But this time, it was different—deep, heavy, almost alive. He stood in the place where everything had ended… or perhaps where everything was meant to begin again.

At first, there was nothing. No sound, no movement. Then—a beat.
One. Slow. Distant, yet somehow from within.
He closed his eyes. A heartbeat? Or a memory?

The second beat was stronger. The third—closer.
And suddenly he realized… the heart wasn’t his.

He opened his eyes. Something moved in the darkness. Not whole, not clear, but unmistakably alive.
His breath grew heavy. With every beat, it came closer… and something inside him began to respond.

The memories shifted. They were no longer warm. They were sharp, cutting.
He saw the same place—but broken, burned, abandoned.
He saw himself… but not alone.

“You forgot,” a voice whispered—not heard, but felt inside him.

He stepped back.
“Who are you…?”

The heartbeat struck again. This time—two rhythms.
One was his.
The other… foreign, yet painfully familiar.

From the darkness, a figure emerged. It was him. The same face, the same eyes… but empty, cold.
The other version of him smiled.

“I am what you left behind,” it said. “When you ran.”

The world cracked like a memory. He remembered. Not a loss… a choice.
He hadn’t lost it. He had abandoned it. Deliberately. Out of fear.

That “bond” trying to return… it wasn’t love. It was guilt. It was the part of himself he had buried just to keep living.

The second heartbeat quickened.
The two rhythms began to align.

“You can’t run from me,” the other said, stepping closer. “Because I am you.”

He tried to move, but his legs wouldn’t respond. Silence pressed in from all sides.
And then he understood—if he ran again… he would never return.

He stopped.

A heartbeat. Once.
Then again—stronger.
And he stepped forward, toward his own shadow.

When they met, the world didn’t shatter. It didn’t collapse.
The silence simply changed.

The two heartbeats became one.

He opened his eyes.

Now he remembered everything. The pain, the loss, the fear… but also the strength.
What he had tried to hide no longer haunted him. It had become a part of him—whole, inevitable.

And in that moment, he understood the truth:
some bonds don’t return to save you.
They return so you can finally face them.

The heart kept beating.
But this time… it was whole.
